PURE-BREDS

Bichon Frise

The Bichon Frise is a small companion dog that typically grows to be 7-12 pounds. They only come in pure white, and their coat is soft and thick. Bichons are hypoallergenic dogs with a friendly and lively disposition.

Boston Terrier

The Boston Terrier is a smart, playful dog that grows to be anywhere from 15-20 pounds. Their coat is short and comes in black and white, red or brindle. Bostons are extremely active and love attention, however are not suitable for those with allergies.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

The Cavalier is an ideal family dog. They shed very little and their coats come in a variety of colors. They can be as little as 10 pounds, but can also be as big as 20 pounds. They have a very strong nose and are perfect for apartment living.

Chihuahua

TheChihuahuais, of course, the world’s smallest dog breed. Weighing from 1 to 6 pounds, they are the perfect pocket pet. They come in all colors, and can have long or short hair.Chihuahuasare quite easy to maintain and take with you wherever you go.

English Bulldog

The English Bulldog is a lovable, lazy family dog. They have a calm disposition and they love their owners. They’re a medium-sized dog, ranging from 50 to 60 pounds. Their coat requires little maintenance, and they come in almost all colors.

Golden Retriever

Golden Retrievers are the perfect family pet and are excellent and patient with children. Although they do shed, their coat can be taken care of easily with daily brushing. They love to play and run outdoors. Females weigh between 60 and 70 pounds and males weigh between 70 and 80.

Havanese

The Havanese is a relatively small breed, weighing between 8 and 14 pounds. Their coat requires daily care, however, this breed does not shed and is ideal for those with allergies. The Havanese is very intelligent and extremely outgoing and playful.

Labrador Retriever

Similar to Golden Retrievers, Labs are an energetic, gentle and loyal family dog. Their coats are short and come in yellow, black and chocolate. Females get from 55 to 70 pounds, and males generally from 65 to 80.Labradorsare extremely active dogs that love to run and be outdoors.

Maltese

Maltese are, at standard size, only 4 to 7 pounds. They are a small, pure white adorable breed. They are hypoallergenic, but their coat, if kept long, requires the utmost care. Most people keep this breed’s coat kept short. This breed is loving of its owners, and very charming.

Poodle

The Poodle is undoubtedly one of the smartest dogs in the world. They are also non-shedding, which to some means the perfect pet. They come in nearly all colors, and also a variety of sizes, including toy (up to 11 pounds), mini (15 pounds), medium (25 pounds) and standard (50 pounds). They are very reliable and just as easy to train.

Pug

Typically only weighing 14 to 18 pounds, the Pug is an active and playful family dog. Its coat is short and the Pug always has a black snout and ears. While not recommended for allergies, the Pug is a cheerful and loyal companion.

Schnauzer (Miniature)

Much smaller than the standard, the miniature Schnauzer is only 11-18 pounds. They come in most shades of grey with a rough, thick coat and do not shed. This breed is affectionate and faithful, as well as active and brave. They make for the perfect addition to any family.

Shih-Tzu

Shih-Tzus grow approximately up to 18-20 pounds, but can be smaller. They are a hypoallergenic breed with a long, dense coat that comes in all colors. Shih-Tzus are self-confident and charismatic. They are a great family pet and can live in small houses or apartments easily.

Tibetan Terrier

The Tibetan Terrier is a good-natured dog with a great temperament. Their coats are long, but can be easily kept short. They come in many colors and typically grow up to 18 to 30 pounds.

Yorkshire Terrier

The Yorkshire Terrier or “Yorkie” is a small companion dog that grows up to 7 pounds. Its coat is long and shiny and comes in golden tan and grey. Regular grooming is necessary with this breed. The Yorkie has a big personality and is very playful.
